Pulsatilla Vulgaris and Potatoes

Weather: Sunny and warm, windy, bright, lovely, 9 degree C

Spotted:  A large bumble bee, magpies, seaguls, sparrows, black bird and 5 or 6 great tits

Pulsatilla
Pulsatilla 2

I can’t believe how the Pulsatilla Vulgaris has come back.  The roots grow up to a meter into the soil.  The purple and yellow flower is just beginning to show.  There are thousands of tiny hairs on the outside part of the flower.  It looks strong and beautiful but fragile too.
Started to think about what I want to put into the allotment.  I’ve started chitting some potatoes and will put them in the ground in a couple of week’s time.  I’m preparing a bed at the moment, so lots of digging and weeding.  All the plants have buds on them and are starting to think about spring.
