The end of winter

The end of winter, a set on Flickr.
I disturbed this big old frog on my last visit to the allotment. He was sleeping under the bit of concrete I use to hold the shed door shut. I screamed when he jumped out. The crocus are up and even though I'm not sure I like them too much I know they are good sources of nectar for bees coming out of hibernation. Everything is starting to sprout buds. Here's to more barmy weather in February.

Allotment under attack!

Allotment under attack! , a set on Flickr.
So this is what everyone dreads who rents a piece of land from the council to grow veg in. An attack by lesser spotted fat bellied councillors has befallen the tenants of the Pitville allotment. The council has put together a list of green sites which it's considering selling off in order to build on. Our allotment along with 5 others have been put on a list called 'low quality, low value'. What will happen next? The plan is to get this land reinstated as High Quality, High Value. It feels that in life one can't relax at any time. Lets hope it doesn't come to throwing myself in front of a big wheeled digging machine!
