High Summer, a set on Flickr.

Spent the day on the plot with my sister and enjoyed her company the weather and the peace and quiet.  Sis left with rhubarb, potatoes, chives, Rosemary, alpine strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and a pink arm.  Saw two swallows dipping and chasing 80 mph overhead in the crystal clear blue sky.  The plot felt very giving today with lots of insects and caterpillars, crickets, bees, butterflies and spiders with wonderful noises.  No sign of any of the little frogs.  Finished the day off with rasp/blue/alpine Eton mess.

Lottie is back with us after being rescued from a derelict house.  She'd been trapped in there for 3 days without food or water and had got herself locked in a bedroom.  A whole team of people helped in her rescue (or not) which ended with brute force being used in the shape of a locksmith.  I'm glad she's back with us but wish she was just a little bit gracious about being rescued.

The pink flowers here belong to a plant I've had for a long time perhaps over 5 years and this is the first time it's flowered.  It's bedded in poor soil, quite grainy and I hardly water it.  It's a shame but I don't know the name of this plant.  The red cherries are from one of the other allotments which you can't walk on as this is deemed to be tresspass, but I'm tempted every time with these.  The thistle head is quite beautiful and there are hundreds of them which makes an impact against the blue summer sky.

The other photographs were taken on a trip to Hebden Bridge where we found lots of edible fruits on our walk including the wild raspberries and beautiful wild blueberries.  It felt as though there was some kind of fruit we could eat every few hundred yards especially around the woods. incredible edible Todmorden

The summer days are really beautiful at the moment especially very early mornings and I keep making an effort to get up to watch the light shift into its daytime.
