Spotted: Blue Tit
Gogi berry has sprung up and needs a good prune - but when? need to research. worked out with D that the grass on this allotment garrotes any roots that cross its path, strangulating everything, so need to widen beds and weed more thoroughly.
The over winter onions have a little bit of growth on them - a welcome surprise after the ice-frost. The artichoke is all tucked up under a pile of straw and looks dead but I know it's not. Hard pruned back an autumn rasp. see how that gets on.
Checked my miniature surburban garden in the yard today - the Pheasant Grass doesn't look so happy - surprised the little white violas survived Narnia conditions of minus 10 degrees Celsius and snow - will have to wait until spring for the full effect. That Toby fella from Gardeners World said that the miniature garden would look great in the frost and ice but it just looks like an upside down mop head - I don't trust him.

Strangely I was given some Tumbleweed by my sister for Christmas. It's come from somewhere near the boarder between Mexico and the USA - there's a little picture of a map showing the area where this piece of dust has blown in from. It's a curious present. I haven't touched it yet. D has told me that her nick name use to be Tumbleweed because of the striking similarity with her hair!
